Sheltering Tree

This last week we created cards in class using Sheltering Tree. I love this stamp set. It never ceases to amaze me the variety of looks you an achieve with the one stamp set. And the ladies in class certainly didn't disappoint. They all ended up with slightly different variations on my cards. I love that I can show them the possibilities and they can add their own twist.

Here are the three cards on which the class was based.

You may recall seeing the wisteria wonder card before. The inspiration for the previous card was taken from a building display at Vivid. I loved the card so much, I decided to change it just a little and incorporate it into a class.

The blushing bride card was meant to look like cherry blossoms, well I think it sort of does.

And the last card led to much discussion in class. When I designed it, I thought they were red apples, eventhough I used the cherry from the Owl Builder Punch. I just chopped a bit of the stalk off. Some ladies thought they were cherries and some thought they were apples. I don't think in the end it matters what they are, it's just a cute card.

I hope you like these cards. As always, if you need any supplies at all, please visit my online shop.

Inspired by Nature

Today I have another scrap page to share with you. This time it is for a challenge in Facebook group - Scrap It With Attitude. The challenge was a nature inspired one. Here is my interpretation.

Narelle Fasulo - Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator

The photo I took at a local regional park - Fagan Park. It has the most glorious garden displays. I could spend days out there just admiring all the lovely gardens and beautiful flowers.

You may notice the paper I have used is from the Bohemian Designer Series Paper pack. But mine looks a lot less dark. That is because I have used the super cool whitewash technique on it that Bonnie Thurley showed us at the Inspire Create Share event earlier in the year. I have a feeling that this technique will be used quite a lot in the future. I have many many non Stampin' Up! papers in my scrapping stash that I keep going past because they are a bit bright and or bold for my liking. But now I have a wonderfully easy technique to change them and therefore use them.

These wisteria wonder flowers on this layout have been made by scrunching up wet round disks of card stock that have been held together with a brad in the middle. Then they are dried with the heat tool and they miraculously keep there shape. So easy to make.

Gorgeous In Colors

Have you seen our latest In Colors ? I know many people are saying that some of them are very similar to some colors we already have. But there are slight shading differences and that will be very handy for some stamping techniques.

Today I am not using the shading, but I am using some of the new In Colors. Here are some thank you cards that I made last night, or should I say, in the wee small hours of this morning...oops. Sorry that will also explain the dodgy photo. They are all in envelopes now just waiting for me to head to the post office, so I can't take another photo.

Narelle Fasulo - Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator

I used the gorgeous Mint Macaron and Watermelon Wonder and just a touch of Cucumber Crush. The stamp was coloured using the new In Color Stampin' Write Markers. That is such a fun technique.

I have also used the new Envelope Paper for the smaller banner, which of course was so easily made using the new Triple Banner Punch. And when you have to mass produce a card, tools like this new banner punch make the job a whole lot easier.

Last but not least, that gorgeous stamp. It is from the Whole Lot of Lovely set which is a Stampin' Rewards only set. To be able to get this set, you need to either host a party or put in an order to a qualifying amount. If you would like more information on how to get a hold of this stunning set, then make sure you contact me.

I hope you like this card. As always, if you need any supplies at all, please visit my online shop.

Now for something different

Today I thought I would share something different and show you all that Stampin' Up! is more than just cards.

Narelle Fasulo - Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator

I used 99% Stampin' Up! products on this scrap  page. The only things that are not Stampin' Up! is the texture paste I used to create the damask pattern using a stencil. And that is because I needed to include something damask to meet the challenge set by Scrapi Wyzwaniowo.

Here are some close ups.

Narelle Fasulo - Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator

I haven't done much scrapping of late. One day I was sitting at my desk and really felt like doing a page. So I did a quick browse of my Facebook feed and saw this amazing challenge come up. I love having lots of really talented facebook friends who are designers for some amazing sites. And that is how I came across this site. The work that is submitted by the design team is amazing. I know my talents are no where near as good as theirs. But sometimes you just have to have a go.

Did you notice the background paper I used ? It is from the Bohemian Designer Series. But I thought it was a bit bright for what I wanted the page to look like. So I decided to tone it down a bit by white washing it. This was a tip that I picked up from the lovely Bonnie Thurber at the Stampin' Up! Create Inspire Event I attended earlier this year. It is so easy to do. You just wipe over the paper with a white ink pad. Told you it was easy. I will do a video on how to do this soon. But I also wanted a pop of colour, so I also randomly sponged parts of the paper with Night of Navy ink.

To achieve the grunge look, I used a couple of stamp sets  - Gorgeous Grunge (of course) and Kinda Eclectic.  I also used some torn Night of Navy card stock which I inked around the edges using Memento. The wooden elements, which are now retired, were also given the white wash treatment and most were also wiped with a little Night of Navy.

I loved doing this scrap page. I really need to do more. Well actually I did, but that one I will show you in a few days.

I hope you like this layout. As always, if you need any supplies at all, please visit my online shop.

Water colouring

This weeks card classes saw the ladies learning a new technique - water colouring. I was surprised that none of them had done this before. So I was extremely happy to be able to teach them a new technique that they can add to their card making repertoire. Here are the cards that I taught them.

It was so rewarding to hear them say at the end of class that  they loved learning this technique and loved the cards they produced. Especially when at the start of the lesson there were a few moans and groans when they found out what we were doing, and then lots of "I don't like mine" when they started. But with practise and encouragement, they all eventually got the hang of it and produced some wonderful cards. They all tried so hard at perfecting their skills.

Narelle Fasulo - Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator

But yesterday was also a sad day. It was the last lesson that I taught at the community centre at Seven Hills. It is such a shame that funding is so tight for these community organisations that they have to justify every cent spent, and if the numbers attending for a programme are not deemed sufficient, the funding is withdrawn. There seems to be little regard for the effect it will have on the 4 ladies who regularly attended. Such a shame, but I guess it is a sign of the times. I will miss those ladies as they are all so lovely and eager to learn.

Whilst I am talking about classes, I just thought that I would let you know that I still do 3 classes at various community centres around the Blacktown area. So if you can make it, I would love to see you at one of the classes below some time soon. They are only $5 for 2 hours of card making fun. The classes are not held during school holidays.

Wednesdays - 10am - 12pm - Marayong House - 64 Falmouth Rd, Quakers Hill
Thursdays - 11am - 1pm - Dean Park Community Centre - 9 Yarramundi Dr, Dean Park
Fridays - 10am - 12pm - Doonside Cottage - 2 Astral Dr, Doonside

For this weeks cards, I used the Wetlands stamp set. This set is perfect for using with the water colouring technique. I used used retired Designer Series Paper on these cards, but some of the papers in the current Go Wild Designer Series Paper Stack would work just as well. The ink colours used were Early Esperesso, Crumb Cake, Pacific Point, Soft Sky and Pool Party.

I hope you like these cards. As always, if you need any supplies at all, please visit my online shop.

Just Add Ink

And for something different - it's a challenge...LOL

This time it is for the Just Add Ink Blog. They have a fun colour challenge this time.

What a great colour combination. Here is how I interpreted it.

Narelle Fasulo - Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator

Using the Choose Happiness stamp set, the flowers are stamped using Pink Pirouette and then sponged around the edges. There is also some Pink Pirouette card stock backing the Night of Navy card stock under the Whisper White front. I stamped the border in the set on Pink Pirouette card using Versamark and then heat embossed it in gold. The Gorgoeus Grunge behind the flowers was also stamped in versamark and heat embossed in gold. The Night of Navy is found in the stamped leaves, the Choose Happiness sentiment, the backing of the feature panel and the card base.

I loved using this colour combination and therefore this challenge. I hope to play along again some time soon.

Pals Paper Arts

Yep here I am with another challenge. I think I am slightly addicted to challenges at the moment. But no doubt life will get in the way again and I will do less and less. But for now I am having a ball doing them. This time I have joined Pals Paper Arts and their current challenge.

I love this colour combination, and here is what I did with it.

Narelle Fasulo - Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator

The colours of the challenge were just screaming out male card. So I grabbed my By The Tide stamp set and then hit a brick wall. I had absolutely no inspiration whatsoever. So I turned to Pinterest and found a wonderful card by Mary Bush. This is my interpretation. I changed the sentiment feature a little to hers and added some linen thread and the gorgeous Antique brads.

I hope you like my card. As always, if you need any supplies at all, please visit my online shop.

Freshly Made Sketches

I have participated in another challenge. This time it is for Freshly Made Sketches. And can I tell you this was definitely a challenge. I find it hard to keep to the clean and simple genre. But I think  I achieved it.

Narelle Fasulo - Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator

This was the sketch that we needed to follow.

I love the muted colours I used on this card. Mint Macaron is fast becoming a favourite. I not only used Mint Macaron card but I also used the new Envelope Paper. That is the striped paper. I love it. Mint Macaron goes so well with Delightful Dijon which is what I have stamped the flower and sentiment in. The stamp set I have used is called You've Got This. And don't you just love the cute little embellishment too. Its a cute In Colour Blossom. And the tag was so easily created using the new Banner Triple Punch.

I hope you like my card. As always, if you need any supplies at all, please visit my online shop.

Mojo Monday - Finally

Well I did it. Finally. I actually made time to play along with some challenge sites.

I always see the amazing challenges and think to myself that I would love to have a go at that. But life always seems to get in the way. So yesterday I decided to MAKE the time to play along. I have done several challenges in the last 24 hours. Amazing.

Here is the first one. It is Mojo Monday. A Card Sketch Challenge site. Here is my first ever completed challenge for that site.

And here is the sketch that we needed to use.

For this card I used some new product - the Bohemian Designer Series Paper and the matching Washi Tape. I must admit that this is the only new Designer Series Paper I have purchased so far. So expect to see a few more projects using this yet...LOL...I will rectify that and purchase some different ones soon, but for now this paper has proved to be a lot more versatile that I first thought. I have quite a few projects made using it that you will get to see in the next week.

I have also used the Crazy About You stamp set on this card. This is another versatile thing. This stamp set has so many words in it. You will never be lost for a sentiment.

Did you notice the flower? I made that, so stay tuned for a video on how I made that some time soon.

I hope you have enjoyed this card and I encourage you to have a go at the Mojo Monday Challenges. I had a fun time creating this card from the sketch, and I am sure this won't be the last time I join in.
