Marquee Messages

Today I have a new stamp set to show you. It is called Marquee Messages. I was lucky enough to be able to use this stamp set to produce my Display Stamper samples for On Stage.

But I must admit, when I first saw it, I thought to myself, "how on earth am I going to make 20 samples using this stamp set". It was a bit of a stumbling block at first. But once I started to use it, I can happily say, that the ideas just kept on flowing.

Here are a couple of the samples I did.

You can't purchase this stamp set quite yet. But on June 1 you can. There are so many elements in this stamp set. It is awesome. Look out for more samples real soon.

Thanks for dropping by.
Have a great day.

Such versatility

Stampin' Up!'s product range is so versatile. If you only ever think cards when you think Stampin' Up! then you need to take another look. So I thought in todays post I would share with you a group of projects using Stampin' Up! products that are so much more.

First up lets talk Memory Keeping. Now memory keeping means two things to me. One is your traditional scrap book pages, which I have been doing for nearly 20 years. The other is the newer, simpler, and quicker form using pocket pages. If you have a gazillion photos sitting in boxes or on hard drives that you never look at, then you need to start doing one or both of these systems. I do both and love them each equally.

Here is a recent traditional scrap page.

And here are some recent pocket pages.

Next up, let's talk Home Decor and Gift Giving. Stampin' Up! has a large range of items that can be used to create wonderful home decor pieces, and also a great range of gift packaging solutions. They even have gift packaging kits which come with everything you need including easy to follow instructions. Here are a couple of my recent projects.

This one is an exploding gift box that can be made to any theme. I actually did a class on this one a few weeks ago and the ladies loved it. They got to choose the colours and themes they wanted, so everyone was different. It was so much fun.

This is a 3D card that can double up as a home decor piece. I call it A Card in a Box. It folds flat for easy postage too. I have a class scheduled for this one on June 4. So if you are local to me in Sydney, I would love to see you there. Just go here for all the details.

And of course, there are the cards we love to make. The act of sitting down with a piece of blank paper, some stamps and inks, then creating something unique is very therapeutic. If you haven't tried it, then you need to. You may just find a renewed passion for life and life long friendships like I have. Here are some of my most recent cards.

So I guess what I am saying is that Stampin' Up! can meet all your paper crafting needs. If you haven't had a look at the range in a while, then do yourself a favour and pop over to my Online Shop to see it all.

Thanks for dropping by. I hope I have inspired you to take a look at what Stampin' Up! offers.
Have a great day.

Freshly Brewed Projects - Annual Catalogue Sneak Peek

Welcome to another Freshly Brewed Projects from the Latte Girls. This week we have for you a sneak peek from the upcoming new Annual Catalogue.

It has been hard to decide what to show you as I just want to play with everything new that I have. I only have a small range from the new catalogue, we can't get anything else now until June 1, when you can all buy from it as well. Imagine if I could of used ANYTHING from the catalogue. This post might not have even been, as I would of still been playing.

So what did I use ?

Well I used the Badgers & Banners stamp set with a couple of the new InColors. I also mixed in some of the stamp sets that are carrying over. So here is what I made.

Badges & Banners - Narelle Fasulo - Simply Stamping with Narelle

Badges & Banners - Narelle Fasulo - Simply Stamping with Narelle

I made baby cards because my brother and sister in law were expecting their third child and we had no idea of the gender. So for once I thought ahead and made a card for each. As it happened, last week they had a beautiful baby girl, Lillian, who I expect will be very spoilt by her two big brothers.

The crest and greeting on each card is from the Badges & Banners stamp set in the new catalogue. It does have a punch for the crest shape, but as I don't have it yet. I cut the shields out by hand. Lucky for me they are a pretty each shape. The banner is punched out using the new Duet Banner Punch.

Behind each shield is stamped the hashed background from You've Got This. Then the girl card has the love hearts stamped from the Perpetual Birthday Calendar set. On the boy card I have stamped the cute little duck from Something for Baby stamp set.

Do some of the colours I have used look unfamiliar? Well that's because a couple of them are the new InColors. The girls card has the gorgeous Flirty Flamingo new InColor teamed up with Blushing Bride. And the boys card has the new Daper Denim teamed up with Soft Sky.

See the ruched ribbon on each card. Yep you guessed it, that is new too. It is so beautiful. I can see me using that A LOT.

Well that is my two cards in a nutshell. Now it is time to see what everyone else on the team has done.

Endless Birthday Wishes

Last weekend I did a class using the Endless Birthday Wishes stamp set. I love this stamp set for lots of reasons. The cake is really cute, the sayings are great and it makes for quick and fun cards. Here are the cards we did at that class.

As it so happens, this stamp set is the challenge set over at What Will You Stamp this week. Why don't you make some fun cards and enter the challenge too.

Now I only had one lady turn up to the class which in the end was a blessing. We had a good old natter while we worked away at the cards. But the most important thing was that this lady left feeling empowered.

You see, she was a beginner. So  instead of having all the kits made up and everything precut, I let her do each and every step. From creating the base card from a piece of A4 card stock, to cutting each element to size and of course the stamping and colouring. She was so appreciative and left with a passion to create more. THIS is why I love my job. Being able to show people how easy and fun it can be.Take the scary element of the unknown and 'it's all too hard' away, and people soon find that they CAN do it, and they LOVE doing it.

Are you local and would love to come along to a class? Then check out all my classes here.

Thanks for dropping by.
Have a great day.

Just Add Ink

Todays card is brought to you by the Just Add Ink Colour Challenge. I sat at my desk and was stumped as to what I wanted to do. So I looked up a few challenge sites and settled on doing this one.

But the card I envisaged in my head did not quite turn out that way. But what the heck I thought, it's not too bad, it is half decent. So thought I would enter it into the challenge anway.....lol

Wetlands - Narelle Fasulo - Simply Stamping with Narelle

I am happy that this stamp set, Wetlands, is carrying over to the new catalogue. It is great for male cards.

I am  not 100% happy with this card. I think the ovals are too small, I don't like how the masking tape ink effect turned out, and I don't like my water colouring of the duck either. There are other things as well I dislike, but I guess we are our own worse critics sometimes. But I had fun creating it. I loved each step in making it, and you know, sometimes that's all that matters.

Thanks for popping by.
Have a great day.

Get Well Wishes

It is not very often I need to make a Get Well card. So I tend not to make many. But at the moment I have a dear Uncle very sick in hospital. He is around a 6 hour drive away, so I can't easily visit him. The next best thing I can do is send him a card.

This is what I made.

Lovely As A Tree - Narelle Fasulo - Simply Stamping with Narelle

I used the forever timeless stamp set, Lovely As A Tree. This is a great every occasion stamp set to have in your stash. I have seen all sorts of card made with it.

The background of the trees is simply watercolour paper that  I have used an aqua pen and Garden Green ink and sort of just painted in big rough strokes. I love how easy it is to get a textured background with little effort, and that every time you do it, you end up with a different look.

I decided to tee up the making of this card with  the current Global Design Project challenge, case the Designer.

I hope I have inspired you to get creative today.
Have a great day.

Mojo Monday

I know today's not Monday. So why Monday in my blog title?

Well that's because today I thought I would play along with the Mojo Monday sketch challenge.

Isn't it such a fun sketch. And this is what I did with it.

Sheltering Tree - Narelle Fasulo - Stampin' Up!

I used the Sheltering Tree stamp set on this card. I think it's great that it is carrying over to the new catalogue. Another wonderful stamp set, Rose Wonder, is also carrying over and that is the set I used for my sentiment.

I hope I have inspired you today to get crafty.
Have a great day.

Freshly Brewed Projects -Butterflies

Welcome to another Freshly Brewed Projects from the Latte Girls. This week it is all about Butterflies. Who doesn't love butterflies !

I was really spoilt for choice deciding what to use for todays card. Here is what I did.

Feel Goods - Papillon Potpourri - Simply Stamping with Narelle - available here - http://www3.stampinup.com/ECWeb/default.aspx?dbwsdemoid=4008228

This was such a fun card to make. The background is just the Hardwood stamp, stamped in Mossy Meadow. To get it as pale as I did, I just stamped it off twice onto scrap paper to remove a lot of the ink, then stamped it onto my Whisper White card.

Next I placed a circle framelit onto the stamped piece of card and drew a pencil line around the inside of it. On a seperate piece of card stock, I stamped the greeting from the Feel Goods stamp set, cut it out using the same circle framelit, then hand drew the stitching using a Stampin' Write Marker.

Then 12 butterflies from the Papillon Potpourri stamp set were stamped. I did 4 each in Blackberry Bliss, Tangelo Twist and Hello Honey. And yes, if you haven't worked it out yet, I was also featuring the retiring in colors for the last time.

You are probably wondering how I got the butterflies lined up so good. Well that is where the  circle that I drew earlier comes in. I placed the butteflies around the circle so that the end of their wings sat just outside the circle. This way they were all an even distance and formed a perfect circle shape. It would work perfectly with flowers too.

The circle with the greeting on it was attached using dimensionals.

Now that you have seen my card, it is time to see what the other Latte Girls have done.

Curtain Fold

I have seen on various sites lately, a folded paper technique that is called either the Curtain Fold or the Drapery Fold. I am sure it has several other names as well.

So I decided to try it out. And for once I managed to work it out the first time without watching any videos or reading how anyone else had done it. Now that is a first! Normally my brain doesn't like to think too much past the basics.

It definitely must of been a rare moment because I decided to tee that up with an embedding technique. And what better die to try that with than the Rose Gardens Thinlits Die. Here is the card I made.

Rose Garden Thinlits - Simply Stamping with Narelle - Available here - http://www3.stampinup.com/ECWeb/default.aspx?dbwsdemoid=4008228

Can you spot the sneak peek of  something coming in the new Catalogue?

The embedding technique was lots of fun and I now have so many ideas running through my head using it.

I love how this card came together. I think the two techniques used on this card work well together. So I have scheduled a class using both these techniques in June. I would love to see you there.

Project Life

A few weeks ago I showed you a couple of Project Life pages I did on the family celebration we had for my parents 60th Wedding Anniversary.  Well today I have another page for you that shows you the day it all started.

Love Story - Project Life by Stampin' Up! - Simply Stamping with Narelle - available here - http://www3.stampinup.com/ECWeb/default.aspx?dbwsdemoid=4008228

I used the same Love Story card collection and accessory pack so that the pages would flow from one to the other.

I will also let you in on a secret. I did this page in under one hour !.. I had a look at the Global Design Project theme this week and saw that it was Project Life. So I quickly made this page up as I already had in mind that I was going to do it...eventually. That's what I love about Project Life. It is so quick and easy. That hour that I took, also included finding the photos on my external hard drive and printing them. So if I was more organised and had the photos already printed, can you imagine how quick it would have been.

Now here are some close ups of some the elements that I added from the accessory pack.

Freshly Brewed Projects - Retiring Products

Welcome to another Freshly Brewed Projects from the Latte Girls. This week we are featuring Retiring Products.

As I have said before, there are a lot of retiring products that I love, so it was difficult to choose what to use. In the end I settled for By The Tide.

By The Tide - Simply Stamping with Narelle - available here - http://www3.stampinup.com/ECWeb/default.aspx?dbwsdemoid=4008228

This must be a popular stamp set as the clear mount has sold out, BUT the wood mount is still available and at a 20% discount. So why not grab it before it is gone forever.

I started by using the brayer, which is also retiring , to colour a piece of whisper white cards stock. I then stamped the coral onto another piece of whisper white which was the same size as the one I just brayered. Then I cut out three circles from that piece of card, then placed that piece of card onto the brayered piece and marked roughly where I needed to stamp the coral so that it lined  up. I wasn't necessarily going for a complete match, but I think I did OK when I stamped the coral onto the brayered piece of card, because they look pretty well aligned. Sometimes things just work even when you aren't trying that hard.

Then I stamped the fish, shell and seahorse onto another piece of whisper white, coloured them with aqua painter and ink, and cut them out.

To add a bit more depth to the top piece of whisper white, I flicked an aqua painter that was coloured with Lost Lagoon to get the splashes on the front. I then mounted it with some dimensionals onto the brayered card, and glued on the fish, shell and seahorse. I added some linen thread for added interest, then adhered the card front to the lost lagoon card.

I hope you like what I have made and it has inspired you to grab this stamp set before it is completely sold out.

International Blog Hop

Welcome to an International Bog Hop hosted by the amazing Kylie Bertucci. I am so thrilled and honoured to have been asked to participate in this blog hop.

We are focusing on some of our favourite Retiring products. I have so many favourites it was hard to pick. So I settled on a stamp set that I have used many times over. Perfect Pennants.

Perfect Pennants - Simply Stamping with Narelle - available here - http://www3.stampinup.com/ECWeb/default.aspx?dbwsdemoid=4008228

I wanted to do something different and show you how to use the stamp set in a different way. So I started with one of the less obvious stamps in the set, the star. Most people would focus on the sentiments in this set, but I wanted to make the accessory stamps the focus.

I started by stamping the star randomly on the card front in three colours - Blackberry Bliss, Hello Honey and Tangelo Twist. And yes these are the retiring In-Colours. There is still stock available of the stamp pads and paper, so make sure you grab them before they are gone forever.

I then stamped the sentiment and cute tags, all from the Perfect Pennants stamp set. I used the Deco Labels Framelits to cut out the sentiment. And, yep, these are retiring too.  They are still available at 30% off.  Wow, so you best grab them while you are getting the retiring In Colours too.

But the card looked a bit 'clean' for my liking, so I randomly squirted it with water and let the ink run. I think it gives it a great grungy look. What do you think ?

So now you have seen my card, make sure you check out what everyone else has done.

The Swallowtails last flight

It is with great sadness that I use the magnificent Swallowtail for the last time.

This is trully a beautiful stamp that can be used in so many ways. I have layered it with several dies today.

Swallowtail - Simply Stamping with Narelle - available here - http://www3.stampinup.com/ECWeb/default.aspx?dbwsdemoid=4008228

The swallowtail was stamped using Basic Black Archival ink, then watercoloured using Melon Mambo and Daffodil Delight inks.

I used both the Bold Butterfly and Butterfly Thinlits to create the 3 layers on top. The final layer is a vellum one.

The swallowtail seemed a bit stark on a plain white backgroiund, so I stamped randomly on the card front to add a bit more detail.

I then tied in the coloutrs I used on the butterflies for the ribbon and card tabs under the sentiment.

As I mentioned, the Swallowtail stamp is retiring, and the clear mount has already sold out. So if you don't want to miss out all together, then grab the wood mount now before it too is gone.

Off The Rails Blog Hop

Welcome to the Off the Rails Design Team Blog Hops. The theme is fun, bright and colourful.

Team A, which I am part of, is starting off today Friday May 6-8 through Sunday. Please visit each blog and leave a comment as your hopping along.

This is what I created.

While I was out at a team meeting last Sunday, my daughter entertained herself by drawing while her brother worked on an assignment with the help of his father. She called it Bible Journalling. She looked up a verse in the Bible and draw pictures that related to the story. I thought it was quite an interesting way to fill in her time, and the pictures are all so colourful. I knew I wanted to document them to cherish everything about this, and what better a way to do that than to scrap a page.

It was so easy to do. One stamp set, Gorgeous Grunge, to create the background. I used just one stamp from the set and stamped in four different colours to create the background. The black frame strip was simply a piece of basic black card stock that I cut the squares out of.

Can you see the sneak peek from the upcoming catalogue ? How timely that I was able to order this stamp set in my pre-pre-order when attending OnStage. It was very timely that this stamp set had only just arrived in my hands earlier in the week. Divine intervention perhaps.

Now that you have seen my creation for the blog hop, it is time to see what all the other very talented ladies have created.

Freshly Brewed Projects - Project Life

Welcome to another Freshly Brewed Projects from the Latte Girls. This week we are talking Project Life.

If you have never tried Project Life, then you are in for a real surprise. It is such a fun way to bring your memories to life. Rather than having all your photos shoved in shoe boxes or on digital media, Project Life enables you to get them out, show them off and document them in a straight forward, quick and easy way.

I am a traditional scraper from way back. I started with the scrap pages where the only embellishments you had were stickers. And I do still love to do the traditional scrapping. But not all photos are suitable for traditional pages. And sometimes there are just too many great photos for an event and they simply won't fit on a trraditional page. That's where Project Life comes into its own.

Like these pages I have done below.

Love Story - Project Life - Simply Stamping with Narelle - available here - http://www3.stampinup.com/ECWeb/default.aspx?dbwsdemoid=4008228

Love Story - Project Life - Simply Stamping with Narelle - available here - http://www3.stampinup.com/ECWeb/default.aspx?dbwsdemoid=4008228

This was a special occasion recently in our family and there is just too much information I need to tell the person looking at the page, and too many photos for a traditional scrap page.

On the 30h March this year, my parents celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. So we decided to have a luncheon.  I made up some beautiful invitations and sent them far and wide to relatives all over the country. Many we knew wouldn't be able to make it for various reasons. But we were thrilled when several from interstate accepted. Mum and Dad were over the moon that some were coming so far just for them. The luncheon was beautiful and we followed it with a gathering at Mum and Dads after lunch. We all got to catch up with family we hadn't seen for some time. One cousin I hadn't seen for nearly 16 years. Plus I got to see my brother again after nearly 5 years.

I wanted to include all this in the journalling as I knew these little details would be forgotten over time. Project Life was the only way I could include so many little details and not have the journalling take over. And I had way too many photos that I wanted to include.

Here are some close up shots of some of the little bits I have added to the photos and the journalling cards.
