Watercolour Tutorial

A couple of days ago I showed you a card on which I had done a watercolour technique. It wasn't your normal watercolour technique, and I promised to come back and show you how I did it. This is the card in case you didn't see it.

I have done a colour dropping watercolour technique on this card. Here is a step by step to how you do it.

Select an image which has a large area or largish sections. It is easier to control the colour variance in larger sections.

Stamp your image onto waterolour paper using Versamark ink. Then heat emboss it using white embossing powder.

Get  your colours ready that you are going to use. Open your ink pad and drop some colour from your reinker onto the lid. I used Cherry Cobbler and Crushed Curry for the rose, and Tranquil Tide and Garden Green for the leaves.

Grab an Aqua Pen and fill one section of the image with water. It is best to have one aqua pen for plain water and one for each colour you are going to use.

Then using another aqua pen, pick up some ink from the drop of ink on the lid of the ink pad and touch the water. The colour will transfer and spread. Don't touch the water again just let the colour do its thing.

Grab another aqua pen and repeat the process with another colour. This time, touch the water droplet from the other end.

You can get some amazing colour combinations depending on the colours you have chosen. Mine turned an orange colour where the two colours blended.

Repeat the process until all the image is coloured. Leave it aside to dry. Don't try to force it dry by using a heat tool as this will move the colours around and blend them too much. You may end up with a single colour image rather than the variegated look.

Because I wasn't very careful or perhaps very good, at keeping the water within the embossed  lines, I did get some bleed out side of the image. So I fussy cut the rose and leaves out before I adhered them to my card,

This is such a fun technique, and I can see it being truly spectacular on some other stamps, like the Magical Mermaid stamp.

Don't forget that this month I am sponsoring the Red Mood Board challenge over at Off the Rails Scrapbooking. So make sure you have a go and enter.

Have a great day.

Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop

Welcome to the monthly Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop. This month's theme is our Favourite InColor. Boy, there are so many beautiful colours to choose from. It was so hard to narrow it down. But eventually I kept coming back to Berry Burst. I hope you like the card I made using it.

I also used another InColor on this card. Lemon Lime Twist. Now when I first saw this colour, I was a little taken aback. It seemed so bright and almost fluorescent. But now that I have it and have used it a couple of times, I LOVE it. It is bright yes, but so fresh.

Now that  you have seen my creation, it is time to check out what everyone else has done. There are so many beautiful projects to inspire you.

On my card I have used the gorgeous Graceful Garden stamp set. It is a flower, so I just had to have it. Say no more. I have paired it with the beautiful Fresh Florals patterned paper. This pack of paper is fantastic value. You get 40 sheets of paper for just $38.50. And the patterns are to die for.

Make sure you come back on Saturday as I will have a quick tip for you about something on this card.

Thanks for dropping by.
Have a great day.

Freshly Brewed Projects - Hostess Sets

Welcome to another Freshly Brewed Projects from the Latte Girls. This week we are featuring Hostess Sets. What is a Hostess Set? These are exclusive stamp sets that you can only get when you host a gathering and the sales reach a certain level. Or you place an order which qualifies. There are six different sets to choose from and they are all lovely. Today I have chosen to use the Tranquil Tulips stamp set. Isn't it gorgeous!

I predict that this will be a very popular set. I love any sort of flower, so this set was a must have for me. It is a two step stamp, which means that you stamp once and then stamp over the top with another stamp. It is so easy to get a perfect image because you can see straight through  the stamp. I used the one colour on mine, Powder Pink, but you can use two different colours to get some different looks.

Now that you have seen my creation, pop over to the other girls pages below to see what they have created.

Want to know how you can get one of these stamp sets? Then contact me and I will explain how you can get one by gathering friends together, either at your home or online, or placing a qualifying order.

Thanks for dropping by.
Have a great day.

Kylie's International Blog Highlights - Teachers Gifts

Welcome to another Blog Highlight where you will see some truly inspirational creations from all over the world. The theme this month is Teachers Gifts. It is so wonderful to thank our educators for all their hard work and get ideas before the end of the year is suddenly here! This gallery will give many ideas on what they can do to say thanks to their childrens educators.

Here is the project I made. Such a quick and simple idea, which is great when you are pressed for time or have a lot of gifts to make. These would be perfect for neighbours, sports coaches and friends as well.

All I did was grab a jar and fill it with cookies. The jar I had in my cupboard, actually I have quite a few in my cupboard. I bought them from Woolworths when I wanted to make some homemade jam. Yeah well the jars were still in the cupboard and the strawberries got eaten. I love being able to repurpose items I already have.

I filled the jar with some cookies from the pantry, but if you have the time, you can make your own cookies. Or even fill the jar with hot chocolate mix and marshmallows. Yum!

To decorate the jar, just die cut a circle and a scalloped circle and glue to the top of the lid. Then stamp and die cut the star image from the Quilted Christmas Bundle that is coming in the Holiday Catalogue. Using dimensionals, adhere this to the lid. Wrap ribbon around the side of the lid and tie a bow. Wrap some more ribbon around the top of the jar and glue in place. The flags have been cut out of the patterned paper that is also in the Quilted Christmas Product suite. I love this suite and I am sure you will too.

If you haven't got a Holiday Catalogue yet and you are in Australia, then click on the image below to get one. I have a special offer in with  the catalogue, so make sure you look out for it.

Did you know that you can vote for my project? I would really appreciate it. So click on the image below to see all the great Teacher Gifts projects and vote for me.

Off The Rails

Welcome to another Design Team reveal for Off The Rails Scrapbooking

This months challenge was all about the colour red using this fabulous mood board.

So I decided to combine this mood board with a technique I had been wanting to try, and came up with this.

Birthday Blooms and Watercolouring - Simply Stamping with Narelle - shop here - https://www3.stampinup.com/ecweb/default.aspx?dbwsdemoid=4008228

The technique I used on this card was a watercolour one, but just a little different to your normal way of watercolouring. Come back Thursday and I will have a quick tutorial for you on how I did this.

Did you notice the little sneak peek from the upcoming Holiday Catalogue? It is the patterned paper I used called Painted Autumn. It is a beautiful pack of paper. If you are in Australia and haven't yet registered for a Holiday Catalogue, click on the image below to make sure you get one. I have a very special offer exclusively for those who register. Look out for the details in with your catalogue.

I am this months Sponsor for the red themed August mood board challenge over at Off The Rails. So I would really love to you pop over and enter a project. I have a wonderful prize pack lined up. You won't want to miss it.
