Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop

Welcome to the monthly Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop. The theme this month is Something Different. By different, we mean something other than your regular card.

Now this theme got me thinking...thinking...thinking...and drawing a blank. Well it really wasn't a blank, rather like too many ideas. I couldn't decide what I wanted to do. The possibilities were endless. So as I sat at my desk staring at my stamp sets, I saw my Seaside Shore stamp set and thought fish tank.

Fish Tank Card made using Seaside Shore Stamp Set - Simply Stamping with Narelle - get all the supplies you need to make this card here - https://www3.stampinup.com/ecweb/default.aspx?dbwsdemoid=4008228

So what do you think, does it look like a fish tank?
Yes it does have real water in it too.

Now that you have seen my card, it's time to see what every one else has done. If you want to know more about my project and how I made it, be sure to come back and keep reading.

I know the water could be higher, but this was a first attempt, so in time I am sure it could be perfected. But it still makes for a great shaker card and a squeezy card.

As I started making my project, I thought I was crazy for even attempting it. I even put up an Instagram post asking for everyone to wish me luck.

So here is how I made it.
First I started with a piece of Pool Party card stock which I sponged with Pool Party, Dapper Denim and Soft Suede.

I then stamped the fish tank scene and mounted the card onto a larger piece that was the size of the card front.

Now I need to make a frame which would form a pocket to hold the water element. So I chose a piece of patterned paper and marked out a panel on the back then cut it out.

Next I glued a piece of  Window Sheet to the back and used the Foam Adhesive Strips on three sides. I left the top open so I could slip the water component in.

This was then attached to the card front.

Next I need to make the water component. I was a tad nervous about this. I grabbed a plastic card bag and taped the sides in a little bit so that it would fit on the front. I just used Tear & Tape down both sides and folded the bag in a little.

Then I nervously added water....

Like I said before, I only put a little water in. I could of put a lot more.

I trimmed the top of the bag a little, added some Tear & Tape and glued the bag shut. I did use quite a bit of tape, and I am sure if this was ever mailed it would get very ugly. I guess this type of card would be best hand delivered to someone.

When I was confident that I wasn't going to have a massive water spill on my desk, I slipped the sealed bag down between the frame and the card front.

I then added some more Foam Adhesive strip across the top of the frame to make it more secure.

This would make a great shaker card and even a squeeze card. Just squeeze the front of the card gently and see the water level rise.

This was such a fun card to make. I hope you have been inspired to make something different.

Thanks for dropping by and have a great day.
Cheers,
Narelle
