Simple Stamping Technique - Colour Blocking

Hello and welcome. Today it is time for the Simple Stamping Techniques Blog Hop. This time around we are showcasing a fun technique called Colour Blocking. If you don't really like stamping, then this is a technique you are going to love. I made two cards for todays blog hop to show the two different ways you can do this. I will explain the technique later, but first here are the cards I made.

I love this technique because you normally can get two cards from the one action. It is also very easy to do. As the name suggests, you glue down blocks of coloured card stock onto a thin sheet of paper. Then using a die, you run it through  your die cutting machine. You are then left with the multi coloured die cut plus the negative space. You can use these both on different projects. Two for one deal, love it! Here is a video where you can see exactly how to do it.

I decided to use a mix of purples and aquas for my cards. I love this combination. There are two new colours on these cards too, can you spot them?

The card above is using the negative space from when I cut out the large butterfly die from the Butterfly Beauty Dies. I made sure to keep the wing inserts and glue them back into place.

This card above is using the die that was cut out. It is a very delicate die. I decided to keep the small pieces in the die cut because I chose to glue my colour block pieces onto a piece of whisper white card stock and not a thin piece of copy paper. This meant that I needed to run the die through the big
shot quite  a few times. The reason I did this was because the die cut is quite fine in places, so I wanted a bit more stability behind it. But this also meant that all those small bits stayed in the die cut. It was much easier to leave them in there than poke them
I suggest that you do actually use a piece of copy paper to glue your colour blocks onto. I would hate to think you broke your die cutting machine or a die. I did question my actions while I was doing it and may have had uttered a silent prayer....

Now that you have seen my card, make sure you pop over to see what everyone else has done.
