Sweetest Time

Hello and welcome. Today I have a card to share with you using the Sweetest Time Bundle. I have shared cards using this bundle before, but they have been mainly using the holly die cuts and the candles. So I thought it was time to start using the candy cane dies. Once I started, I couldn't stop, so expect a few more candy cane cards in the coming days.

The candy cane border die is so much fun! And so easy to use. It cuts to the correct length for a standard card, so all you need to do is cut it out glue it on. I decided to do two, one in red and one in green, and add the striped paper behind the green one. I think it looks really different and quite unique.

I filmed while I made it, so you can see how easy it was to make.

Have a great day.

Heartwarming Hugs Advent Calendar

Hello and welcome. Today I wanted to talk Advent Calendars. I love any sort of Advent Calendar and so do my kids. They still look forward to having one every year at Christmas, even though they are 20 and 16. My son has even seen some very different Advent Calendars full of gin, tools and all sorts of things. I like to keep the treats in mine traditional. And by traditional, I mean chocolate...hehe.

I have a wooden Advent calendar that I decorated when I first got married, so it's 20 odd years old and slightly showing it's age. But the kids love it, so I keep dragging it out each year. I also like new shiny stuff, so every year I try to make another Advent Calendar. Lucky kids, this means they get two....hehe

This year I decided to make something really quick and easy using the Heartwarming Hugs Designer Series Paper. I love the traditional red and green at Christmas. Here it is below.

I knew I wanted to use our new card display stand. It's perfect. It comes with gold library clips, but not enough to do 24 days. So I just used some ribbon to tie the days to the stand. The little parcel for each day is very simple to make. Take a strip of patterned paper which measures 2" x 6" and punch both ends using the Scalloped Tag Topper punch. Score in from each end at 2 1/2", fold on the lines then secure together at the top with a glue dot. Now they are open little bags, so I intend to use some Tear & Tape and tape little bags inside them. The small share packs of M&M's for example fit perfectly. My kids, after all, do have another Advent Calendar!

You can decorate the little bags as you like. I kept it pretty simple, but you could go all out and make it something very special. It would look great in any of our Christmas papers. Some of them are on special until the end of the month, so grab them now and get ready to make your own Advent Calendar.

I love how quick and easy this was to make. And the great thing is that it wasn't expensive at all. Just a few strips of paper, some card stock for decoration and ribbon to hang.

I made a video when I was making it so you can see just how easy it was.

Stampin' Cut & Emboss Magnetic Plate

I have heard some negative talk about how our new Magnetic Plate bends easily.

I own a Gemini electronic cutting machine and the magnetic mat for that stretches unbelievably. So I watched a hack by Jennifer McGuire where she taped the magnetic plate between the plates to stop that from happening.

It worked great, so I thought I would try the same for our magnetic plate.

WOW after 75 runs through the Stampin' Cut & Emboss yesterday it is still flat. The only issue is my tape is a bit torn, but that can be easily replaced. I know this means that you need two base platforms and two die cut platforms, but this is a game changer for me. This magnetic plate cuts like butter the first time through, it's amazing.

I hope this tip is helpful for you.

EDITED TO ADD - if you do this, you will not be able to send your magnetic plate back to SU as it will void warranty. This is not a SU endorsed practice, try it at your own risk! I take no responsibility if it damages your plates and/or machine or anything else!

If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to contact me or comment below.

Have a great day.

Beautiful Boughs Dies

Hello and welcome. Today I am participating in a blog hop that is inspired by the latest Paper Pumpkin Kit. We don't get Paper Pumpkin in Australia, but that doesn't mean that I can't be inspired by it and play along.

Now when I said we don't get Paper Pumpkin in Australia, what I meant was that we normally don't get it. But I am excited to say we will be getting this one, just a little later than our North American friends.

I decided to use the pine tree and pine cones as the inspiration for my card. How lucky was I that we have the Beautiful Boughs Dies. Made making this card so quick and easy.

I wanted quite a simple and understated card as this one will be heading to a male this Christmas. I think I achieved that. I even made a video while I made it. You can watch it below.

Now that you have seen my card, it is time to see what everyone else has made.
