Heartwarming Hugs Advent Calendar

Hello and welcome. Today I wanted to talk Advent Calendars. I love any sort of Advent Calendar and so do my kids. They still look forward to having one every year at Christmas, even though they are 20 and 16. My son has even seen some very different Advent Calendars full of gin, tools and all sorts of things. I like to keep the treats in mine traditional. And by traditional, I mean chocolate...hehe.

I have a wooden Advent calendar that I decorated when I first got married, so it's 20 odd years old and slightly showing it's age. But the kids love it, so I keep dragging it out each year. I also like new shiny stuff, so every year I try to make another Advent Calendar. Lucky kids, this means they get two....hehe

This year I decided to make something really quick and easy using the Heartwarming Hugs Designer Series Paper. I love the traditional red and green at Christmas. Here it is below.

I knew I wanted to use our new card display stand. It's perfect. It comes with gold library clips, but not enough to do 24 days. So I just used some ribbon to tie the days to the stand. The little parcel for each day is very simple to make. Take a strip of patterned paper which measures 2" x 6" and punch both ends using the Scalloped Tag Topper punch. Score in from each end at 2 1/2", fold on the lines then secure together at the top with a glue dot. Now they are open little bags, so I intend to use some Tear & Tape and tape little bags inside them. The small share packs of M&M's for example fit perfectly. My kids, after all, do have another Advent Calendar!

You can decorate the little bags as you like. I kept it pretty simple, but you could go all out and make it something very special. It would look great in any of our Christmas papers. Some of them are on special until the end of the month, so grab them now and get ready to make your own Advent Calendar.

I love how quick and easy this was to make. And the great thing is that it wasn't expensive at all. Just a few strips of paper, some card stock for decoration and ribbon to hang.

I made a video when I was making it so you can see just how easy it was.

Thanks for dropping by.
Have a great day.
