The People's Choice

Hello and welcome. Today I wanted to introduce you to The People's Choice.
I wanted to find a way for you to get involved in what I create. So decided it would be fun to have my followers choose what I create.

There are two ways you can get involved.

You can tag me in a post, send me a link or a photo of a card or scrapbook page you want me to CASE.

OR

You can pick three numbers between 1 and 42 AND tell me to either make a card or do a scrapbook layout. The numbers represent an item on a list I have that contains products, techniques and ideas.

You can comment on this post, or comment on any of my social media posts, or use the comment form on the right hand panel. If you already have my email, you can email me too.

I can't wait to see what you choose for me to make.

I posted about this on my social media channels a few days ago and have had a few people respond. So that was fun. The first person to respond was Beryl, who chose for me to make a card with the numbers 16, 24 and 36. This is what I made.

You can find out what was represented  by the numbers and watch me make the card in the video below.

Lets' CASE a card

Hello and welcome. Today I decided to get back into card making. It's been some time since I made a card. If you are a scrapbooker, don't worry, I won't be stopping that, just mixing up my crafting by adding some cards back in.

One of the quickest ways to get back into something you haven't done in a while, is to copy. In the crafting community we call it CASE'ing. CASE means to copy and selectively edit. You choose a project and use it as inspiration. You can copy it exactly, loosely recreate it, or take elements from it to base your creation around.

For my first card in a while, I decided to case a card I saw on an instagram feed, and this is what I came up with.

I copied the card off instagram and used different colours and products. I loved how it came out. Here is the card that I copied from @TayloredExpressions

I made a video of me CASE'ing this card which you can watch below.

Country Fair by Mintay - Layout 5

Hello and welcome. Today I am back working with the Country Fair Collection by Mintay. I have quite a few pages to go yet with this collection, but I think I will spread the rest out over a few months. I love the collection, but I do get bored with using the same thing all the time.

Here is layout 5.

As I normally do, I also made a video. This video is a little different. It is a process video, so no talking, just music as you watch me put this page together.

Home Decor

Hello and welcome. Today I wanted to share with you a home decor piece I recently made. It all started with some vintage thread spools I found at an antique store.

My Mum was a sewer. She made all my clothes growing up and made for lots of extended family as well. So when I saw the vintage spools I just knew I wanted to make something in homage to her. Luckily I had some appropriately themed scrapbooking supplies too, and this frame was born.

I made a video making it too.

The cheapest embellishments around

Hello and welcome. Today I want to tell you about where to find the cheapest scrapbooking embellishments around. But I will say that these are not for those who don't like fussy cutting or who don't own a Scan 'N Cut or Cricut. As these are all digital files, you need to either load them onto your machine or workspace, or be able to print them and cut them out. As a lot of us have these machines, or don't mind a bit of cutting every now and then, these will save you a lot of money in the long run.

Now this post is text heavy so here is a photo of the page I made using some of these embellishments I am talking about.

I am talking about all the millions of graphics available on Creative Fabrica. If you haven't heard of this this site, then let me elaborate.

This site has hundred of thousands of graphics, font, templates etc that you can download and use for your personal crafting. You can join, which automatically also gives you a commercial license for their use. I had seen ads for this site for some time, but I had never really been interested enough to pop over and take a look. Fast forward to last month when I decided I needed to go on a spending freeze. I saw something come up on my Facebook feed and I clicked on it. I was instantly in love with everything available and knew I had found the answer to my dilemma of being able to keep scrapbooking with spending no money.

I already have enough patterned paper to last me a lifetime, but I still needed to buy embellishments. But with a Creative Fabrica subscription for just $19 a month, I can download hundreds and hundreds of embellishments for FREE. So I will be saving so much money.

Here are some close ups of the different elements I have used from Creative Fabrica on my page.

I also made a video of this page where I talk more about Creative Fabrica and list the exact elements I used on my page.

Testing papers for alcohol inks

Hello and welcome. Today I wanted to have a little chat about playing with alcohol inks. I am new to this so am by no means an expert. I only have Tim Holtz YUPO by Ranger paper to use for my alcohol inks, but I had read that you could use alcohol inks with glossy card stock. I have a ream of glossy white card stock so thought I would have a play. It worked to an extent, but I noticed that it dried a lot quicker than on the YUPO paper. This is the card I turned it into.

Foiling using normal dies

Hello and welcome.  When I had a play with my foiling machine recently, I had a play foiling with normal dies. There are special foiling dies you can use, but you can also foil with the normal dies you already have in your stash. So I decided to have a play to see what I could create. I played it safe and used a large sentiment. I was very pleased with how it came out, and this is the card I used it on.

I created an alcohol ink background, added some circles using a stencil and gold paint, then just added the large hello on foam. Such a quick and easy card that definitely packs a punch.

If you want to see how I made the foiled elements, be sure to watch the video below.

Foiled Background

Hello and welcome. Today I have the third card in my series on foiling. I recently had a play with my foiling machine and created a few elements, and now I have made them into cards. Today's card uses the foiled background I created. I think this is my favourite. It's so so pretty.

Isn't that just stunning? I am so glad that I have some foils on the way to add to my store. I can see a lot of them in my future creations.

If you want to see how I made the foiled elements, be sure to watch the video below.

Hello and welcome. Following on from yesterdays post where I shared a card using some foiled butterflies, today I have another card in my foiled series. This time I used the frame that I foiled in my first play with the Gemini Foil Press.
