Making a striking background

Hello and welcome. Today I wanted to share a card I created that has a striking background. I have seen dies that make this background, but thought to myself that it can't be that hard to create. And I was right, it was really easy. First I will show you the card, then share with you how I made the background.

Now onto creating that background.

I started with a piece of patterned paper that was the same width and length as the card front. Then I drew a pencil line down the middle on the back.  I then made measurements every half an inch down the length of that line.

I wanted my pieces of patterned paper to be half an inch thick, but you can make them as thick or thin as you like.

Then I worked out how much of an angle I wanted in my dip. I didn't use any fancy formula for this, I simply placed my ruler from the mark in the middle to the edge of the paper to work out a pleasing to the eye angle. I then marked half an inch wide marks down each side of the paper. This probably sounds confusing, but the picture below should make it a whole lot clearer. Then I just used scissors to cut along the lines to give me my V's.

When I glued them onto the card front, I just eye balled their distance and tried to keep them an even distance apart.

I hope I have inspired you to have a go at creating a background like this. As you can see, it isn't complicated at all.

You can purchase your card making and scrapbooking supplies in my online store below.

Thanks for dropping by.
Have a great day.
Cheers,
Narelle
