Create your own template

Hello and welcome. Today I wanted to create a birthday card with lots of  balloons on it. But when I looked through my stash, I had no stamps, dies or punches of balloons. So I made my own template and sponged the balloons. Here is the card and following will be a description of how I made it.

As I said, I had no stamps, dies or punches of balloons, so I had to come up with a way to still add balloons onto my card. The easiest way was to create a template of a balloon that I could sponge using blending brushes. Since I didn't have anything to make the balloon shape I had to get just a little creative.

I had an oval die, but the outside of the oval was a fancy patterned edge, so I traced the inside of the oval onto a piece of white card stock. Then I drew a small tail on the balloon, then cut it out using scissors. Now I had my balloon shape that I could sponge.

My tip for doing this is to make sure you have enough space around your shape so you don't have trouble holding it and you don't accidentally sponge off the card stock.

Once I had finished sponging, I splattered some water and then some watered down black ink onto the panel. Then I stamped the sentiment using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and the Stamparatus. I wanted a really black sentiment, so stamped several times. The Stamparatus is invaluable for this.

I hope you have been inspired to create a card like this. It really is fun.

You can purchase all the supplies I have used in my online store below, or by using any of my other ordering methods.

Thanks for dropping by.
Have a great day.
Cheers,
Narelle
